Gigabyte ATi Radeon8500 AP64D-H Review (5)
Overclocker 18 Mar 2002

Conclusion

Do you want to pay a lot of money for a 10% difference in performance ? If No is your answer, the Gigabyte AP64D-H might be the answer to your question. ATi based cards have always been praised for it's clarity in display. Yes it does and the image quality is better than my existing card.

The performance of this card is definitely much better than the GF3 series but it lags behind if you compare head to head with GF4 Ti4600. This card is extremely easy to install and we didn't have much problems. The heatsinks are huge and the design is definitely marvellous. In our tests, we used the Vtuner provided in the CDROM package to tweak the performance of the card. Although V-tuner is a useful overclocking tool, there are some interface problems as we are unable to adjust by 1Mhz stepping as easily as powerstrip.

Overall, I would say that this card is one good card that you might consider as an alternative. Here are my ratings
