K8V Deluxe K8T800 Athlon 64 Socket 754 Mainboard Review (5)
Benchmarking We checked out Q3 running Demo001 at 1024x768x32 Hi-Quality. In this category, the SIS 748; a single channel DDR solution lost to the nForce2 platform. This is to be expected. The difference between the two boards is very minimal. It is only 0.2 fps which is hardly noticeable. In fact, what would happen if the FSB was 200.5, it would have got similar or high results. In all tests, Tyan Radeon 9700Pro is used and is running in 8X mode with Catalyst 3.2 (7.84) drivers for all boards tested. The ASUS K8V Deluxe scores 376.6fps on the average. The score is in between two other VIA K8T800 boards. The NF3 boards, ALI and SiS ref boards seems to perform better.
In 3DMark2001SE Build 330, the results are quite different though using the same chipset. As we can see the BIOSTAR K8VHA Pro scores 17515 while the ABIT KV8-MAX 3 and Gigabyte K8VNXP scores around 17380 3Dmarks. The ASUS K8V Deluxe scores slightly lower at 17292. It seems that the newer boards with the patches applied to the BIOS do lower the performance by a bit. In 3DMark2003, the score of 4860 is quite good compared to the other K8T800 boards. In fact, in this case, this results falls right behind the SiS 755 Ref board and the ABIT KV8 Max 3.
