Gigabyte GV-R9500pro
Review (1)
Background A few months ago, we reviewed the Gigabyte MayaII Radeon 9700Pro and it has overtaken the GF4 Ti4600 as the top performer. Lately, Gigabyte joins in ATi and other manufacturers and released a scaled down version named Radeon 9500Pro. As most of you have probably spent quite an amount buying the latest out there, the Radeon 9500pro comes as a mid-top range card as it offers performance level similar to the nVIDIA GF4 Ti4600.
The Radeon 9500Pro has an impressive performance on par with Ti4600, it also supports the latest MS DirectX 9. For those who of you who are confused with the different cores, here is a chart for your comparison.
We ran the system under AGP 8x mode on EPOX 8RDA+ nForce2 mainboard using AMD AXP2700+ 2 x 256M DDR400 module. We also explored the AntiAliasing and Anisotropic filtering modes comparing it to Chaintech GF4 Ti4600. We also explored the overclockability of this card. Benchmarks used include 3dMark2001SE B330, Q3 demo001, Comanche 4 and CodeCreatures Benchmark Pro. |
