Gigabyte GV-R9500pro Review (6)
Overclocker 13 Jan 2003

Conclusion

As we can see from the benchmarks, the Gigabyte GV-R9500pro has proven itself to be a strong contender and in most of the categories tested, its performance is as close to the GF4 ti4600. While the Radeon 9700pro is still the best performer so far, the Radeon 9500Pro is posing a threat to the Ti4600 in terms of pricing and performance. Even at Hi Quality modes, the Radeon 9500pro is still performing on par or even better in some cases.

Installation is rather straightforward, the only thing you ought to remember is to plug in the aux power supply for the graphics card, otherwise the graphics card will not function properly. The software that comes with the board should be sufficient for most of your needs like DVD playback etc. As an overall product, GV-R9500pro is the 8x AGP high performance card that will appeal to most to needs a good graphics card for playing games at a similar level to the GF4 Ti4600.

As Gigabyte has locked their BIOS, we did not try to overclock the card. If that can be done, the chances of overtaking GF4 Ti4600 is pretty high.

Overall, this is a good card to own if you require enormous graphics manipulation. Here are my ratings
