Gallery 1/3
First look ASrock surprises us with another upgradeable board this week. This board, known as K7upgrade-880 is a Socket A board. The interesting fact about this board is that, you can upgrade it to a full fledge board supporting the Socket 754 Processors by just adding on the 754Bridge card with the 754 CPU + RAM. Isn't this amazing ? You pay for the board and if you decide to upgrade, you don't have to buy a new board, just add on the upgrade card and there you have it. A brand new system taking advantage of the new CPU speed. This is made possible with the adoption of KT880 chipset as the Dual Channel DDR400 supporting the Socket A processors. As the common South Bridge VIA VT8237 is used, the 754 bridge card comes with the north bridge VIA KT880. Thus when you insert the 754 bridge into the yellow slot on board, the North bridge on board is disabled and the K8T800 takes over. The board supports all the necessary expansion capabilities and they include SerialATA 1.5Gb/s, RAID 0,1,JBOD, SATA_HDD, USB2.0, 5.1channel Audio, 10/100 Ethernet LAN. The board also supports multiplier control, Vcore adjustments, FSB up to 300MHz FSB. Below are photos of the package and the 754Upgrade Board. Package Specifications
