ASUS A8V Deluxe Socket 939 VIA K8T800Pro Mainboard Review (7)
Bluetooth 12 July 2004

Conclusion

The ASUS A8V Deluxe is the first AMD Socket 939 board we review here at OCW. The package comes with goodies and that includes a software access point and the LAN comes with built in cable tester. This is something that is missing from other manufactures. From the gallery, we have already seen the board layout. I find that the board could be better laid with power connectors put together than to have it separated.

The board has pretty amazing performance when we paired it up with the ASUS AX800pro X800pro graphics card. Overclocking-wise, this board has the necessary voltage adjustments for Vcore, Vdimm etc. In BIOS 1006, multiplier option is not found. We flashed the later 1006.004 beta bios which comes with a multiplier control. In our tests, we managed to overclock the FSB to a max of 275Mhz x 8.5. We were quite surprised that we were not able to boot at 165 x 8.5. This again proves that PCI/AGP lock is not there.

Overall, the ASUS A8V Deluxe is a good board to own if you use a Socket 939 CPU. We have also heard some news that there will be a rev 2 of the board which will have a slightly different layout and correct the fix pci/agp issue.
