Sony Ericsson K500i Triband GSM 900/1800/1900 Camera
Phone Review (3)
Multimedia The built in 300K pixel camera can take shots at various resolutions Large (640x480), Med (320x240), Small (160x120) and Extended (1280x960 interlaced mode). There is a Night Mode and Effects allows you to take pictures with add on effects like Black & White, Negative, Sephia, Solarise. There are various interesting frames which you could use to add fun to your photos. There is also a timer available. See page 4 for photos taken using camera. For video Recording, you can choose between Large 176x144 or Small 128x96.There is the same night and effect mode like the camera. Video can be taken as unlimited or limited (for small clips). The camera does not come with a White LED or Flash. Photos taken at night or Indoors tends to be noisy with bluish dots. I am not sure if that is a CMOS camera issue or it can be corrected in later firmware upgrades. Connectivity This phone has 12MB of internal memory for you to keep all your videos, pictures, midi, mp3 ringtones. Just like the K700i, the K500i does not have any slots for you to extend the memory. This is somewhat a disappointment as most of the newer phones already adopt RS-MMC or Transflash for you to make your phone a MP3 Jukebox or a multimedia centre for keeping photos. Transferring of images, ringtones and Java apps are easy as you can choose to use the infra red or via GPRS which costs money. The relevant file types will also be automatically dumped into the correct directories which you could access them via the file manager. It is a pity that this phone does not come with Bluetooth. Ringtones K500i comes with a loud speaker located at the back of the phone. This speaker is responsible for playback of ringtones, games, conversations in speakerphone mode. In fact, I was very surprised that the MP3 ringtones are very loud when set to MAXIMUM level of 8. I would advise you to set to 6/8. This is in contrast to the T610 which you could hardly hear it ring. You can also use MIDI as ringtone. The K500i supports 40 channels polyphonic playback. Vibration alert on the other hand is a bit weaker compared to Siemens S65 or the Nokia 6600. |
