Mobile TV

Currently you might be on 3G and watching tv broadcasts using 3G. Well a new evolving standard is right here. You can now watch your favourite tv broadcasts digitally. That is what is known as mobile TV.

Mobile TV on PDA/Phones will become a reality soon as it employs the DVB-H standard or Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld Technology. At the show, the demonstrator showed us how easy it is to watch the various currently available channels on air in DVB-H, just like those on TV mobile (which are transmitted using DVB-T).

This system benefits the broadcasters as it means new advertising channel to tap into. It also has a new distribution channel for its programs. To the mobile operators, DVB-H networks are less costly to deploy. Interactive programming can be pushed to customers.

What would that affect the current 3G contents ? Will it complement or replace the contents. As seen from the actual display, the picture quality is much better than those used on 3G phones right now.
