Foxconn Winfast 6150K8MA-8EKRS Socket 939 (GF6150) Benchmarks 7/7
Bluetooth 14 Nov 2005

Conclusion

Having gone through the tests, we discover that the board has an above average result when compared to various boards we tested before. The performance of this board is mixed. When it is paired up with an external 6600GT, it overtakes the perfomrance of the ATi RS482 board we tested before. When it comes to the internal core, it is still slightly slower than the ATi RS482/ULi m1575 pair but better than the GF6100 board.

Features-wise, this board is quite complete as it comes with a 1394a. It also comes with HD audio, Firewall, SATA II RAID 0,1,5, Purevideo, just to name a few. Although it comes with a TV out, it does not come with a breakout box that allows you to plug it directly to a S-VIDEO or RCA jack. We tested the Purevideo clip "Step into Liquid -1080i" version and it played smoothly but at a CPU utilisation of 70-80%. A check using a 6600GT with Purevideo decoder gives me around 65-75%. Looks like the Purevideo is working.

There are some basic overclocking features found in the BIOS. It has voltage adjustments for Vcore (up to 1.55v- depends on CPU type) and Vdimm can be set to 4 different levels. The CLK can be set up to 400 and Cpu multiplier can be selected from 4x~25x. You can also run the board in ASync DDR mode. HT width can also be adjusted. So far, we only managed to push the HTT to a max. of 300 x 8 running memory at ASync DDR333. That is the limit as the HTT window is up to 300MHz.

Winfast 6150K8MA-8EKRS based on the GF6150 is definitely a entry level board that most would think of for building a HTPC that supports playback of WMVHD with lower CPU utilisation. In terms of price and performance, the SiS 760GX is slower in integrated speed and lack of SATA II. The ATI RS482 has some good integrated core but external is slightly slower. Furthermore, there aren't many selections for SiS and ATi S939 solutions out there. This board should be shipping by now and you can do a search for it on our price guides.
