ULi M1575 South Bridge on ATi RS482 Review 7/9
Pricing of X850XT cards Benchmarks - PCmark05 HDD benchmarks In this test, we used the PCmark05 and tests the performance of the SATA II interface on the South Bridge. Firstly, we ran the boards as it is using a single Hitachi 80G SATA II HD. From the chart below, we can see that the two chipsets do have its strengths and weaknesses. The ULi M1575 seems to be leading in HDD File Write by 8.5% against the NF4 SLI board. In other areas, the NF4 SLI seems to outperform the ULi M1575 by a bit.
In the RAID tests, we hook up two 80G Hitachi SATA II HD to the We enabled SATA RAID option in the NF4 SLI board and created a RAID 0 array within the BIOS. As for the ULi M1575 board, there is no need to do that as it is all software controlled within WinXP. It is definitely much easier to set up the RAID array in WinXP than from BIOS. From the test results, we see that the ULi M1575 sweeps the NF4 SLI in 3 out of 5 tests. It leads in HDD file write, virus scan and XP start up tests. After RAID 0 test was done, the partitions are deleted and a new RAID 1 array is created, partitioned and formatted. Again, we see the speed differences between the two chipsets. The ULi M1575 seems pretty strong in RAID 0 and 1.
