Conclusion
The 7600GS AGP is a good attempt at bringing a budget/mainstream Geforce
7 series gpu to the AGP market.
It is also a good card for a HTPC due to it's relative low power consumption &
Purevideo support. With a more decent cooler, it should run pretty cool too.
As you can see from the results, the 7600GS is
not really a good choice for gaming at 1280*1024 resolution or 1024*768(with
AA/AF). Unless you are on a tight budget or only play at 1024*768, I would
advise spending more money to get a 7600GT AGP as the perfomance increase is
well worth the extra money.
Pros
- Cheap upgrade for older computers with only an AGP slot.
- Slightly faster than a 6600GT.
- Good cables bundle.
- Good card for a HTPC.
Cons
- A better cooling solution could have been used.*
- Use of thermal pad for cooler.
- No SLI support.
- Mediocre performance at 1280*1024 or with 1024*768 with AA/AF with some
modern games.
*Photos on Albatron
website show a more beefy cooler which also helps cool the HSI chip, so it could
be possible that we received an early card sample with a different cooler from
the ones currently sold in the market.
