ECS PX1 Extreme
ECS is one of the major first tier mainboard
manufacturers in Taiwan. In the past, we always related ECS to entry level
boards. This year, ECS has been doing a lot more by introducing a number of high
end boards to the market. Some of them are for the Intel while some are for the
AMD platform.
Today, we will take an exclusive look at the
ECS PX1 Extreme. This mainboard is based on the Intel 965P chipset and ICH8DH
South bridge. It supports CPU LGA775 socket for Intel? CoreTM2 Extreme / CoreTM2
Duo /Pentium 4 / Pentium D /Celeron D Processors with FSB 1066/800/533 MHz and
Hyper-Threading Technology. In the near future, it will have a flash bios update
that will support the latest Quad Core processor from Intel.
The board supports 4 x 240-pin DDR2 DIMM
socket support up to 8 GB and supports 6 x Serial ATAII 3.0Gb/s devices with
Intel? Matrix Storage support (AHCI and RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5 configuration).
Another on board Jmicron JMB363 1 x UltraDMA 133/100/66 for up to 2 PATA
devices, 1 x Internal SATA 3.0 Gb/s port, 1 x External SATA 3.0 Gb/s port.
The board also uses Realtek ALC885 for Intel
8-ch HD Audio, 2 IEEE 1394a ports by VIA chipset and Dual Gigabit Ethernet
Controller on board.
This mainboard also incorporates Qooltech, a
heatpipe design that keeps vital components cool by effectively directing heat
from the south bridge and north bridge to the rear. The board also supports
CrossFire using Catalyst 6.9 (16+4). With I.O.C, Instant overclocking is
possible with the board. It automatically detects the load and increase the FSB
for better performance.
The package also comes with a SATA to PATA bridge, ethernet cable, external
bracket for 1394, USB and multiple SATA cables.
