Conclusion (Pricing)
Powercolor is again one of the first to market the X1800 GTO cards in the market. As you probably known, the X1800 GTO is the 12 pipeline edition of the X1800 series. The performance is better than the X1600 series but slightly lower than the X1800XT. In terms of packaging, the Powercolor X1800 GTO as usual, it includes Cyberlink DVD playback software and video cables are provided. No games are included in the package. This will probably reduce the overall cost and benefits the consumers. Overclocking wise, we tried to overclock the card but it seems that it didn't want to go beyond the 600MHz for Core. We ended up at a nice 580/580 for both core and memory. We believe it could go a bit further with better cooling. Installation is not that complex even if you intend to use it as a slave card for your X1800 CrossFire edition card. In our test, the card ran smoothly with no major issues encountered. The performance of the card is definitely better than the X1600XT and equally good compared to a NV 7600GT. One advantage of ATI X1k series of card is its support of the AVIVO Video Converter Engine which offloads your CPU and speeds up compression of videos into other formats.
