Installation

Installation is quite straightforward. As it works in a pair, you will want to plug one plug to the router and the other to the PC/notebook. In this case, the router assigns the IP address to notebook/PC just like what it usually does when you have your PC/notebook on WIFI.

The package comes with a CD-ROM. Inside it is a the HomePlug AV Utility v2.2. This configuration utility allows you to update the firmware, check the network information, flash upgrade the firmware and set encryption.

In the above screen, it shows the remote device. TX Codec/ Raw (Mbps) is the actual transmit bit rate and RX Coded/Raw(Mbps) is the actual receive bit rate. Looks like our electric cable isn't that good to achieve fast ethernet speed.

In the encryption tab, you can change the private network name for the Homeplug av devices within the network. Different names can be used to differentiate the indepedent networks within the network. It acts as an authentication.

You can upgrade the firmware of the local Homeplug or remote homeplug from this page.
