Introduction Pricing

If you have been following the graphics card market, you would have notice the price war of ATi vs NVIDIA cards. As ATi has always been behind in terms of performance against the 7600GT and 7600GS, ATi introduced a new product call X1650XT late last year.

At that time, we were taken by surprise as the perfomrance of the X1650XT was able to take on the mid range king from NVIDIA, the 7600GT. It is on par or better than the 7600GT.

As for the entry to mid range market, NVIDIA had another weapon, that is the 7600GS. As ATi do not have a similar product line to counter that, it lost out in terms of sales because not everyone buys a 1650XT as it is quite costly.

To counter this, ATi quietly introduced a lower speed variant of the X1650XT. In fact, the core and the specs are similar to that of the actual X1650XT. Some suggested that is a batch of rebranded X1650XT. The weird thing is that, this product is not offically announced on AMD website. Instead, it is quietly killing its competitor in various countries.

The X1650GT which is the little brother of the X1650XT, clocks at 450/600 by default as compared to 600/700 on the X1650XT. It also comes with 256MB 1.4ns DDR3 RAM and 24 pixel processors.

The colour box

As mentioned, the new CrossFire bridge simplifies Crossfire by interconnecting two cards. There is no longer Master or Slave card for this configuration. As it is one of the member  of the X1K family, it supports AVIVO. You can connect the DVI to your LCD TV thru a HDMI converter and you can view stunning High Resolution media.

The package contains the CD, manual, S-video, breakout cable for component video.
