Most of the top tier manufacturers will be showing off their AMD RD790 chipset mainboards at the Computex Taipei 2007 exhibition.

The chipset is an improved AMD 580X chipset. Instead of supporting only 2 PCIe full length slots in Dual 16x mode. AMD RD790 supports 4 X PCI Express full length X16 slots. The slots can be configured to run in either Dual 16x or Quad 8x. It will support the AM2+ socket type with a HT of up to 5200MT/s.

The specification of the reference board is as follow :

Socket AM2+
HT 5200MT/s
4 X DIMMs supporting dual channel DDR2 1066 memory up to 32GB
Dual Gigabit LAN
4 X PCI Express X16 slots (2@X16, 1@X4)
8 SATAII ports supporting RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5
1 X PATA port

Vendors might be reselling the reference boards with brand labels. There might be redesigns of the reference boards on sale in the near future. So far, Gigabyte seemed to have plans for a RD790 board.
