       Introduction
NVIDIA will launch its mid range of DX10 graphics cards on 17 Apr 2007. With improved design over the previous generation GPU, the 8500 series and 8600 series GPU is also making new changes to its PureVideo engine. As we all know, PureVideo HD is the core of a complete solution. Graphics card with HDCP is able to decode HD DVD or Bluray discs and display them on HDCP complaint LCD TV via HDMI interface. Currently, there are two players, WinDVD and PowerDVD. Their latest editions all support PureVideo HD.   As contents becomes more readily available, the challenge to lower the GPU usage is inevitable. The 8500 and 8600 series incorporates a new video processor architecture. GeForce 8600 and 8500 series GPUs features a revolutionary
new video processing engine. A new video processor (VP) block provides more
advanced video post processing to improve overall video quality. A new
integrated bitstream processor (BSP) allows the 8500 and 8600 GPUs to perform
full HD decode. They are the world’s first video processors to offload from the
CPU 100% of Blu-ray and HD DVD H.264 video decoding, enabling playback on
mainstream CPUs and providing unsurpassed movie picture quality and low power
consumption. PureVideo HD support for Vista is available now for GeForce 7 and 8
series GPUs. PureVideo HD support for the 8500 and 8600 GPUs under Windows XP is
expected in June 2007.
