Samsung SGH-i600 has caught my attention as I have been eagerly seeking for a phone that could incorporate all the latest technologies into a single piece of portable hardware.

As we have mentioned before, the i600 is equipped with the latest mobile technology integrated into one piece of hardware. The phone supports HSDPA, WCDMA, WIFI, Bluetooth and a QWERTY keyboard. This allows one to be truly mobile and be contactable using various modes of communications even if you are not close to a hotspot (Wireless@SG) or while you are on the move (HSDPA/3G) be it video conferencing, data transfer or voice calls.

Measuring only 11.8mm and weighing a mere 99g, the Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 is the world's thinnest 3G smartphone with a full QWERTY key board. As it is small in size, the keypad it quite rigid. In fact, I had a hard time searching for key to press because the numeric pad is also using part of the layout. The screen is also pretty small.

Although the phone supports view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and image formats including BMP, JPEG and GIF with Picsel Viewer, there is no indication that this phone supports video output function similar to my D600 which I love.

In our test, we noticed that some applications like GMAIL viewer is not able to get installed onto the phone. VOIP services like PFINGO by Starhub is not available on Windows mobile platform.

Overall, the phone is definitely ONE up from the i320N and we hope to see more innovative ways of data entry, perhaps using a bluetooth keyboard or normal half size real pc keyboard can be attached to it for data entry. It would be better to have a larger screen display.
