Review : Introduction
to ASRock A780FullDisplayPort AMD 780G+SB700 mainboard
Introduction
We have reviewed a couple of AMD 780G boards at OCWorkbench in the past months.
To date, we have seen 3 boards with slightly different feature set. Although
ASRock is a bit late to market their AMD 780G board, this product is an eye
opener for most.
Based on the AMD 780G+SB700 chipset, this board supports all series of Phenom,
X2 CPUs. This is not the case for some brands as ASRock uses a 5 phase PWM. It
has proven to run the latest Phenom 9850 without any issues (reported in our
news yesterday).
With it's integrated DX10 graphics, it paves the way for running applications
that takes advantage of it's compliance. With the improved integrated GPU, it is
able to take advantage of Hybrid CrossFire X technology. This allows the board
to speed up the performance of the PCIe graphics card by tapping onto the
integrated GPU.
For display, ASRock A780FullDisplayPort is the first to support future
standards. This board supports all 4 VGA Output options: D-Sub, DVI-D,
HDMI and Displayport. It also supporst HDCP function to enjoy better quality
with High Definition HDCP Encryption contents. With it's integrated RV610 level
graphics, it decodes bluray h.264 movies with ease.
In terms of expansion, the board has 6 SATA II ports for RAID 0,1,10,JBOD. It
also has a PCIe GbE, 2 x 1394 and 1 WIFI/E Header.
For overclockers, there is software -ASRock OC Tuner. You could also adjust
voltage, frequency controls from the BIOS.
The package comes with the DisplayPort add on card and a DVI-D -> HDMI
converter.
