DOOM 3 Benchmarked and compared with QX9770 and Core i7 940
 

In this test, the 3GHz processor is paired up with a ATi Radeon HD 4850 graphics card. The system used 2x1GB DDR2-1066 memory running at CAS 5, 7-7-24, 2T. The BIOS used is 1.25. The processor runs at 15x200Mhz =3GHz.

DOOM 3 is tested in 1600x1200 resolution. The benchmark scored 157.3 fps while a QX9770 running on ASRock P45XE-WiFi N scored 183 fps. Using a Core i7 2.93GHz (133x22) on Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 gives a score of 187 fps.

Looks like the higher end Intel processors still outperform the new Phenom II X4 940 by almost 18% if we compare Phenom II X4 vs Core i7.
