The insides of ASUS Eee PC 901 Intel 1.6GHz ATOM  notebook
Bluetooth 29 Jun 2008

What cpu and chipsets are found inside the ASUS Eee PC 901

The screen shot below shows that the Atom processor is running Hyperthreading. The CPU on board is a ATOM N270 rated at 1.60GHz. There is also a built in modem, WiFi, Realtek LAN, audio, USB etc. The OS is WIN XP Home edition with SP3.

According to CPU-Z, the CPU is Intel ATOM (Silverthrone) 45nm running at 1.275v, a bit higher than 1.013v on the MSI Wind. It clocks at 133MHz (533Mhz) with a multiplier of 6x. Wait a minute, you would say why is the bus speed showing 12 x 140 = 1680GHz. That is because we are using the ASUS utility Super Hybrid Engine and ran the system at Super performance mode. The memory module that comes with the Eee PC 901 also has a tighter SPD timing at CAS 3,3,3,8,2T. The DDR2 on the MSI wind was rated at CAS 4,4,4,12,2T.

Watch the video on how Super Hybrid Engine affects the CPU speed.

Other than the utility Super Hybrid Engine, the system is also preinstalled with  YoStore. This application allows you to store your files with AES encryption online that you can share with your friends.
