3Dmark05,06, 3DMark Vantage benchmark on Biostar TA790GX A2+ AMD 790GX+SB750 mainboard

Benchmarks - 3Dmark2005/3DMark2006/3DMark Vantage

In this test, we run the board in default mode , that is at 700MHz for GPU and the UMA memory is set to run in 533MHz. Thus the integrated GPU runs at 700/533MHz. The first test is done using UMA enabled. The 2nd test is with the UMA+Sideport enabled. The third test is UMA+Sideport enabled and GPU is overclocked to 1GHz. *

Before we go on, we would like to highlight that the Biostar TA790GX A2+ comes with a 64MB sideport memory whereas the Gigabyte comes with 128MB.

In the o/c of the GPU (with voltages bumped up), the Biostar TA790GX A2+ is stable at 900MHz. In fact, it could reach 950MHz but with intermittent hang ups or with a images tearing.

With just the UMA enabled (sideport disabled), the Biostar TA790GX A2+ actually did better than the Gigabyte board. Unfortunately, when it comes with OC and Sideport, it loses it's steam by around 6% when sideport is enabled. When both boards are o/c, the difference very apparent.

In 3Dmark06, with only UMA enabled, both boards scores similarly in the range of 178x. With sideport enabled, the difference is 140 marks (7%) When o/c the difference is almost 250 (11%) points.

The same tests are applied to 3Dmark Vantage in Performance mode.  We are surprised that it could complete the run. The board score 267 marks, just a few points lower than the Gigbayte board. With sideport enabled, the difference is 54 marks (18%). When OC with Sideport enabled, the difference is 76marks (19%).
