Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 in detail

 

This is the other high end end board that will be showcased at the Computex Taipei the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6. We have the heatsinks removed.

Including the ICH10R, there are two additional chipsets that are responsible for the SATAII ports. The first is the familiar Jmicron JMB363 chip, this chipset supports 1 IDE + 2 SATA II ports that can be configured in RAID 0 or 1.

Total of 3 independent RAID Systems - 2 Hardware RAID 0,1 + 1 Software RAID 0,1,5 & 10. Software RAID function provided from ICH 10R supports up to 6 HDDs.

The board also Gigabyte Ultra TPM which supports 2048 bits Encryption Key by Infineon TPM chip. You can store encryption key in USB portable drive. It also allow user to erase encryption key stored in the system or retrieve the backup encryption key stored in the BIOS in case of key loss.

 

The other chipset is the SiliconImage SIL5723. With this chipset, you can set up RAID arrays independent of OS. That is you can create your arrays at BIOS level. There are two of such chips, responsible of up to 4 SATAII.

Maximum Data Security with 4 backup HDDs & 2 H/W Controllers, the system can do another level of RAID 1 with 2 RAID 1 arrays formed by 2 SIL3723.

Alternatively, for Maximum Data Performance with 2 RAID 0 systems & 4 stripping HDDs - that is form a RAID 0 array with 2 RAID 0 arrays formed by 2 SIL3723.
