Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 in detail
This is the other high end end board that
will be showcased at the Computex Taipei the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6. We have the
heatsinks removed.
Including the ICH10R, there are two additional
chipsets that are responsible for the SATAII ports. The first is the familiar
Jmicron JMB363 chip, this chipset supports 1 IDE + 2 SATA II ports that can be
configured in RAID 0 or 1.
Total of 3 independent RAID Systems - 2 Hardware
RAID 0,1 + 1 Software RAID 0,1,5 & 10. Software RAID function provided from ICH
10R supports up to 6 HDDs.
The board also Gigabyte Ultra TPM which supports
2048 bits Encryption Key by Infineon TPM chip. You can store encryption key in
USB portable drive. It also allow user to erase encryption key stored in the
system or retrieve the backup encryption key stored in the BIOS in case of key
loss.
The other chipset is the SiliconImage SIL5723. With
this chipset, you can set up RAID arrays independent of OS. That is you can
create your arrays at BIOS level. There are two of such chips, responsible of up
to 4 SATAII.
Maximum Data Security with 4 backup HDDs & 2 H/W
Controllers, the system can do another level of RAID 1 with 2 RAID 1 arrays
formed by 2 SIL3723.
Alternatively, for Maximum Data Performance with 2
RAID 0 systems & 4 stripping HDDs - that is form a RAID 0 array with 2 RAID 0
arrays formed by 2 SIL3723.
