Introduction
It is been some time since we last reviewed a AMD 790GX
mainboard. Today, we take a look at one of the most flexible mATX solutions from
DFI.
This board features the AMD 790GX+SB750. It comes with DX10
integrated ATI Radeon HD 3300 graphics core. Without an external graphics card,
you are ready to get it power up with the Onboard graphics interface - HDMI port
for both digital audio and video HD display - DVI-I port for digital LCD
display.
As we all know, most AMD 790GX boards out there are designed
to accommodate two full length slots to support CrossFire. The DFI lanparty JR
790GX M2RS is probably the first mATX board to feature a 2 full length
PCIe slot for CrossFire function. Not only that, it also supports Hybrid
CrossFire and other features like DDR2-1066, Marvell 88E8056 PCIE Gigabit LAN
controllers, Realtek ALC885 8-channel HD Audio Codec7.1 ch audio etc.
This board supports the AMD® AM2+ processors: Phenom FX /
Phenom / Athlon / Sempron AMD® AM2 processors: Athlon series / Sempron with
HyperTransport 3.0 (5200MT/s for AM2+) HyperTransport 1.0 (2000/1600MT/s for
AM2). The AMD OverDrive provides tuning options using the new “Advanced Clock
Calibration” overclocking feature is also supported via SB750. The new BIOS
available also supports the new 45nm Deneb core AM2+ processors e.g. Phenom II
X4
The board comes with 4 x 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets and
supports DDR2 667/800/1066 MHz DIMMs, dual channel (128-bit wide) memory
interface of up to 8GB unbuffered non-ECC x8 and x16 DIMMs.
Other features included are CMOS Reloaded, CPU/DRAM
overclocking, CPU/DRAM/Chipset, Overvoltage, 8Mbit SPI flash memory and ABS-
Auto boost system.
