Wimax on the go

Wimax is the way to go for mobile broadband. At the Intel event, Mr. Alex Tan, Director of Qmax was there to share with us their plans for wimaxing the whole country. Currently, the southern coastal areas are being covered with Qmax. According to Alex, the current subscribers to it's pre-wimax will soon be migrated to the 802.16e in the coming months.

We went on board a yacht for around 30 minutes and start surfing away with the notebooks attached with the Qmax's Wimax USB dongle. We managed to do our usual youtube video streaming, listening to BBC etc without any problems. We also did a speedtest and were surprised by it's constant speed of 512kbps without fail to the local and overseas sites. It's a matter of time when Wimax comes built in to the notebooks.
