Review of Samsung Pixon M8800 8 mega pixel camera phone

A few weeks ago, we reviewed the Samsung Innov8, a Symbian based 8 mega pixel camera phone. Today, we take a look at another touch screen camera phone from Samsung, the Samsung Pixon.

The Samsung Pixon features the latest camera functions as well as its own unique Samsung Mobile Widget technology which enables users to personalise their phones with downloadable widgets. Housing an internal memory of 200MB, expandable up to 16GB via microSD, the Samsung Pixon also boasts a 16x digital zoom with Auto Focus, fast shutter, face detection and geo-tagging – all navigated through a 3.2” 240x400 262K WQVGA TFT LCD touch screen display encased in a sleek design.

The 8-megapixel camera comes with Auto focus, a Digital zoom (16X) and a Dual Power LED Flash. On top of this, it also features ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction), WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), Face Detection, Smile Shot, Face Link (face tagging), Geo-tagging, Auto Panorama Shot, Photo memo, Photo Browser (Accelerometer Sensor, Tilt and flip, Sorting by Face/Time/Color/Folder).

For video recording, it supports recording & playing (MPEG4, WMV, DivX, XviD) at 30 fps D1 (720 x 480) & 120 fps (QVGA) high quality video recording. There is also Slow motion video playing and SRS (Surround Sound System) Virtual 5.1CH support.

For audio, it comes with a Music Player (MP3, AAC, e-AAC+, e-AAC+, WMA), FM Radio with RDS and DNSe™ (Digital Natural Sound engine).

For those who use it as a mobile device, this phone supports GSM/GPRS Class 12/ EDGE Quad Band (850/ 900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (2100 MHz), 3G (2.1 GHz) networks.
