Phenom II X3 AM3 710 can be unlocked as X4 Cores
According to a news post in a Korean website playwares, it is said that when the processor is paired up with a Biostar motherboard, it can enable the disabled 4th core of the processor, making the Phenom II X3 710 becomes a quad core processor.
To enable the 4th core, just go to bios and set Advance Clock Calibration to Auto and restart the machine. On the next boot, it will enable the 4th core. Prime95: Stable Before and after unlocking |
OMG! Looks like AMD screwed up the microcode update or something, because that should not be possible. Who buy the X4 CPUs, when there is a damn good chance they can be made X4 from cheaper X3 ones?
I sense great potencial for bios hacking there, hehe. |

Holy Moly!
I gotta get me one of them X3's then... ;-) |
Better grab the microcode in bios that enables this function, lol. X3 are kinda good deal now, lol.
