I’m not sure what you mean by network protocols. I haven’t changed any network settings or anything other than the networked computers running as a standard users on Windows 7 Home Premium (all PC’s on the network).
The routers in question are as follows. I started off with a Netgear WNR1000v2 (it came with the cable modem). The reason I bought a new router was due to this slow connection problem (it might not have been the router after all). I purchased an Asus RT-AC56U. It had connectivity issues from the moment I got it (not just the slow connection problems). I am currently trying to get that fixed under warranty. Since then I got a Netgear WNDR3400 (which is the active router on the network). No problems with it. Hope this is what you were looking for.
