At the Asia Analyst Tour on August 27 held in Taipei, AMD is set to launch Opteron server processors (Barcelona) for the energy efficient and standard performance markets in early September at core frequencies up to 1.9GHz and 2.0GHz, respectively. It will be followed up by faster models of up to 2.3GHz and above.
For desktops, the Spider platform (RD7XX chipsets and 65nm Phenom processors with 2MB L3 cache) will be launch in end 2007. The Hardcastle (RS7XX chipsets and 45nm Phenom CPUs with 6MB L3 cache) is scheduled for 2008.
For notebooks, AMD will launch Puma which adopts Griffin processors and the RS780M chipset, in 2008, while 2009 will see the launch of the Eagle platform featuring Falcon, the first Fusion processor which will combine a CPU (Bulldozer) and GPU core in a single package.
