Default ATi Radeon HD 3800 Series specifications and pictures

In the last couple of days, there seems to be major changes to naming convention of the Radeon RV670 series. Instead of calling it HD 2950, it seems that AMD is confident taht RV670 is one generation ahead of the 2000 series.

The new naming removes the XTX, XT and Pro naming convention. The two cards will now be known as ATI Radeon HD 3870 (RV670XT) and Radeon HD 3850 (RV670 Pro). The 3870's 70 means it is a high end product. 50 is mid range and 30 would mean entry level product.

ATI RadeonHD 3870 requires a Dual-slot. It has 256bit of 512MB GDDR4 memory16Mx32.

ATI RadeonHD 3850 comes in 512 16Mx32、256MB 8Mx32 GDDR3 Both has
a 256bit memory width, memory clocks at GPU clk at 828 Mhz。

Why do AMD choose to a new naming convention -HD 3000 series ? We think that it is probably to market it as cards ready for CrossFire X (3 or 4 cards in CrossFire. We should expect to see a 3840 or 3850 in the near future.

We should be expecting AGP editions of the cards too in the future. Current cards all require catalyst 8.43.

I can't imagine 3870 using a 256-bit memory bus after ATI spent so long developing ringbus.

Just makes me a bit dubious about these specs...
