AMD RS780 integrated chipset supports UVD, external PCIe and DDR2/3

AMD RS780 is the first integrated chipset with DX10 compliant SM 4.0 graphics core. The graphics engine is of RV610 class and supports dual display, tv encoder, integrated DVI/HDMI interface, display port and TMDS.

It comes in a single chip of size 21mm in BGA package. The chipset suport HT3 with 5.2GT/s. The RS780 includes support for PCIe external graphics with 8 lanes support for external graphics in PCIe 2.0 standard.
The RS780 supports AMD UVD with hardware accleration of H.264, VC1 and Mpeg2 used in HD DVD and BluRay disks. It also comes with AVIVO which provides good quality image.

As it is manufactured using 55nm technology, it requires low power. In addition, the ATI powerOnDemand technology minimises power by adjusting core graphics and core voltage accordingly.
The chipset supporst both DDR2-1066 and DDR3-1333.
