Exclamation Intel P45 Eaglelake will support ATI CrossFire X with AMD, Intel "The Winning Combination"

Intel P45 Eaglelake will support ATI CrossFire X

After AMD and ATi merged, ATi seems to be operating indepedently. Previous licensing of ATi CrossFire to Intel still continues as it is.

Lately, Intel has been telling it's partners that the Intel P45 chipset has received the certification to support CrossFireX on it's chipset. Although both parties have an agreement of "The Winning Combination", they reserve their comments about this relationship.

Some of the mainboard manufacturers see that the cooperation is to maintain both positions in the desktop market. Firstly NVIDIA holds the SLI and has not licensed it to anyone else, secondly if Intel do not support ATi CrossFire X, chances that the high end desktop market will all be gobble up by NVIDIA.

The combination is a clear counterattack by the two giants against NVIDIA.

In Q2 of 2008, the P45 chipset wil be paired with ICH10, supports 1333FSB, PCIe x16 or Dual PCie x8. According to the roadmap, Intel P45 will pair up with RV680 CrossFireX platform, supports "Hold the Power" technology. It will come with 1280 stream processors, 2GB GDDR4. It will be the strongest DX 10.1 gaming platform in 2008.
