EeePC 900 retail version battery downsized, consumers felt short changed
We have reported in our Chinese edition that the EEEPC 900 reviewed on a HK magazine comes with a 5800mAH battery.
Last Saturday, some consumers who bought the first batch of EeePc 900 in HK found that they have been short changed. The battery capacity they received is a 7.4v 4400mAH instead of the 5800mAH battery as shown in the reviews on magazines.
On ASUS website, it indicates that the battery is a 4 cell battery with a battery life of 2.8~3.5 hrs. Nothing is mentioned about it's capacity.
On the same day, PCMARKET also informed users that
"資料更新(2008年4月19)最初送測機中顯示電池為5800mAh,首賣日官方表示改用新電,容量為4400mAh,並指電池續航力2.8-3.5小時之間。敬請留意。"
PCmarket puts up a notice indicating that the retail unit comes with a 4400mAH instead of a 5800mAH.
