With Micro-Star International (MSI) expected to officially launch its 10-inch Wind series notebooks and Acer planning to launch an 8.9-inch Aspire low-cost PC in Europe priced at 299 euros (US$469.49) over the next few weeks, Asustek Computer has decided to rush forward plans to launch a 10-inch version Eee PC, according to notebook industry sources. The Eee PC 1000 is now expect to be launched on June 3 along with the Eee PC 901 and Asustek is also preparing lower priced versions of current models, the sources noted.
This is confirmed with the e-invitation we received earlier, inviting us to attend the press conference on the global launch of the new ASUS EEE PC at Computex.
No specifications were released but we assume that the EEE PC 901 should be similar to the EEE PC 900 with a 8.9" screen and configurable 4+16 GB SSD (or 4+8 GB SSD). The Celerom M processor will be replaced with Intel Atom.
As for the EEE PC 1000, our own findings is that it should be similar to the EEE PC 901 but with a larger screen of 10". It might also have a larger SSD capacity, say 24GB (8+16) or even 32 GB (16+16) depending on configuration of XP or Linux.
