Thanks bluetooth !

I ordered a Diamond HD 4870 and after much consideration, I will be replacing the 4CoreDualVSTA in my son's system. I decided to order a Asus P5Q Pro as the mainboard for this system.

Having owned both the 775DualVSTA and the 4CoreDualVSTA, I will only have one system running ASRock with a Conroe1333-D667 left in service.

ASRock products are a great value.

Time might be right for ASRock to start releasing a performance line of motherboards which have more features in the bios for overclocking ... just a thought

Successfully installed the BIOS. I set "PCIE downstream Pipeline” and “PCIE VC1 Request Queue” to Auto.

First impressions were very positive. I played for about 2 hours at Need for Speed: Most Wanted without a crash. It used to crash within 30 minutes. Happy with that result I decided to test it World of Warcraft which has been the most unstable on since the I installed the 4850.

Unfortunately it crashed to the desktop after not even 3 minutes. I then tried it again and this time lasted for about 40 minutes. Then I went to bed and I left 3D Mark 06 looping overnight.

I woke up early in the morning (about 7 hors later) and it was still going. I didn't touch it and when i checked back one hour later there was a BSOD on the screen.

Not sure what to think of all this. It seems to be a step forward, but I wouldn't call it 100% stable yet. Hopefully the final release will be the one.

What are the other options on PCIe VC1 request Queue? enabled ? disabled? Try other options.

I'm still downloading the bios, but i think i should share what i've found so far using 775dual-vsta(=<bios 2.9a). I believed it's well known that pcie downstream pipeline cause major texture corruption with either nvidia and ati card (confirmed using 8600gt and 4850). Enabling speedstep cause system err
or/restart when clock/multiplier chang
ed (enabling power management). i'm confused about the ati 4850(maybe other series too) somehow playing d3d non fullscreen mode cannot use h/w acceleration, very slow, like using soft emulation. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm sorry if the text formatting bad and i cannot reply quickly. I have very limited internet access and typing this from mobile phone.

Default Has anyone tried the modied BIOS on a 775-VSTA?

I just recently updated my BIOS from 2.something to official 3.10 on my 775-VSTA. I'm upgrading my video card from a Radeon X1950 GT AGP to a Radeon HD 3870 PCI-E. I'm just about to swap the cards now, and would like to know if I should flash to BIOS 3.13c afterward? I've downloaded the bootable image because I haven't used a floppy in years, so i wasn't about to use the DOS utility.

Has anyone successfully posted with 4 GB of RAM on the 775-VSTA with a modified BIOS??
