AMD to launch Atom competitor

With more netbooks using the Intel Atom processor, AMD wouldn't be letting Intel eat away this large potential pie of the market.

APC magazine recently reported that AMD will be releasing a new netbook CPU. It is said that there will be two series of the processor. The first being multimedia centric while the other is on power management for better battery life. It is mentioned that the new processor is able to operate from 8 to 9 hours. If that is true, AMD will surpasse Intel Atom's power management which provides up to 7 hrs of usage.
