Intel Atom N280+GN40 chipset netbooks to be launched during Computex 2009

According to news from various sources, Intel will be releasing the new Atom N280 to the various netbook manufacturers.

The N280, is still a single core Atom and has a core clock of 1.66GHz, 667MHz FSB and 512K L2. Compared to the N270, it is just 60Hz faster. Perhaps the 667FSB can help to improve the speed just a tiny bit.

On top of that, the Atom N280 will be bundled with the Intel GN40 chipset. The GN40 chipset is a variant of the Intel G45, thus it should support many hardware acceleration features for video playback. The bundled price for GN40+Atom N280 is priced at 60-65 USD, around 20 dollars more expensive than the original Atom N270＋945GSE priced at 46 USD.
