Question Asus P5K3 Deluxe DDR3 mobo

After reading the very nice review there:
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2007/asus/P5K3-Deluxe/g1.htm

I got few questions. First. Anyone know, what is the "CPU Voltage reference option" (0.57x to 0.63x) Same option is later on the NB and all I can imagine is setting some reference point to witch the CPU/NB can be undervolted when power saving mode/underclocking happens, but... This is probably not this.

Also I would like to know, where to see this: "In fact, DDR3-1333 is the somewhat the preferred choice when a 1333FSB CPU (to be available) is used."
Yet the ram options shows AUTO and DDR3-1600 to 3200Mhz ...? No 1333 there? Can ti be at the auto, or this is just options for async, while sync one are different?

PS. it is funny that the DDR3 suxx - except for overclocked in Sandra - it give a slightly better results, but what for? real performance suxx anyway

And removing the PS2 mouse connector mean NO MOUSE IN DOS, witch is a big problem for some... I definitively can't buy board like that, but still Asus seems to do good job - 8 phase Vcore regulator is nice

Ram speeds at DDR2-667 and above has always been ASYNC.
CPU Voltage ref option means, to give the voltage a slight boost. multiply by 0.57.

DDR3 is just like DDR2 in the past. Until we see lower cas latency modules come out, I think perfomrance won't improve that much. Furthermore, current architectures (intel) can't really tap the 8000MB/s unless you run it in SYNC. ASYNC always suck anyway

I think it is a silly idea to remove PS/2 mouse connector. They said you can use a USB->PS/2 converter. The problem is.. .. what if lose that converter that came with the mouse??? still need to hunt for it ;)

You mean PS/2 to USB converter ? I tried one on my Asus P5K Deluxe with my Aten KVM switch PS/2 mouse connector but didn't work won't recognise mouse. So ended up using a USB logitach trackman wheel mouse and worked fine.

I disagree. I have not used a PS/2 mouse in 2 years. USB Mice are cheap, if you upgrade your MB, why not your mouse at the same time.

Actually since buying this Zboard almost a year ago, I have no PS/2 connections active since. I run a Logitech MX518 gaming mouse and a MS Trackball Explorer at the same time plugged in the Zboard rear USB port.

Well not every where you can buy a USB mouse. You ought to consider that the board is not made for a particular market.

That is very strange. They have been out for years. You mean to tell me the latest Conroe board is available, but not a USB mouse? How is that possible?

You know this is just like the Vendors who have decided to stop shipping Floppy drives in new PC's. Sooner or later both Floppy and PS/2 will dissapear, especially since Vista doen't need a floppy at all to load 3rd party drivers. It's offically becoming a dinosaur.

Not all stores have USB mouse on sale. PS/2 mouse are more abundant and are relatively much cheaper. The same applies for USB Keyboard vs PS/2 Keyboard.

Pricing might differ from country to country.

Wow, just goes to show how different the world can be. I haven't seen a PS/2 mouse in a couple years. Keyboard situation is different but it won't be long before you don't see them here in the States either.
