Default P5K (P35) or P5B (P965).

If I were to get a new ASUS motherboard now, should I go for the newer P35 based P5K or the proven P965 based P5B? The price different is about S$70.

Well like you say, the P5B has been proven, which is what I'm running very happily now. However, if you have the money you could go for the P5K board, simply because it seems to have higher thresholds, such as the FSB range (up to 650 on the P5B, and 800 on the P5K), and it also has as many, if not more features than the P5B. All of this is rated by it's potential to overclock. If you want a good, stable board with plenty of features, the P5B will save you money.

If you are a new comer and require something that is stable and do not burn a hole in your pocket just go for those non WIFI-AP special edition package.

In fact, all other brands having the same Intel P35 or P965 chipset will operate with same performance (o/c speed might be different depending on design).

There are good boards from Gigabyte, MSI, Foxconn too. Check them out before you decide.
