Default AMD Launches HD 4830, nicely priced to match the NVIDIA 9800GT

Today, AMD launches it's mid range graphics card the HD 4830. Radeon HD 4830 belongs to the HD 4800 series and thus are architecturely similar.

This new card uses GDDR3 memory type and has 512MB Frame Buffer. It is PCIe 2.0 and consumes 110W of power. Below is a chart, comparing the three models of HD 4800 series cards.





The HD 4830 takes aim at the NVIDIA 9800GT at a similar price point and with better specifications. Some important differences include 55nm GPU, DX10.1, 7.1ch native displayport and HDMI. This are not available on the 9800GT.

In terms of gaming performance, it is up to 1.6x faster than the NV 9800GT, claimed AMD in games Crysis and Company of Heroes.
