Ha, my Soltek Sdram 2000XP is up...145k a day..took me a while to configure Foldit and DFGUI in win98. DFGUI will not update my foldit.bat file, no matter what I try. Had to do it manually :( With non quiet mode and 128 ram, 65k a day, quiet mode and extra 150 ram, 145k a day. Tomorrow my Duron 750 comes home, an extra 35k a day. Be afraid, be kinda afraid. :D

Hi Guys
My 1600+ oc to 1800+ is doing 165,000 per day.
Now with a few tips, quiet mode and extra ram I will see how it goes.
I am approching the 1mil mark in the stats on line.
I might even get the wifes K6III+ @ 600mhz to start some folding.... hmmm

You need least 256 meg for the extra 150 meg option, else...crash bang. 384 is better if you have lots of things in system tray. Make sure your virus program is off or does not scan the windows temp folder. If the next protein goes up above 129, more ram may be needed for the 150 switch. Quiet mode on 98=double the folds, XP = 5% more. Lets get dangerous

You have to open a "terminal". It's like a little dos box, or in this case a linux box that lets you use the command line. There's probably something in your Xwindows called "xterm" .
Anyway, it will open on your user directory, which is probably where the file downloaded. Apply the gzip and tar commands and it will unzip everything in a folder probably called distribfold or something like that,
Using the terminal still, you can use the command cd distribfold to change to the directory, then type ./foldit to run bat file. You may be able to leave off the ./, I had to use it and I'm in Debian.
If all else fails, read the help files. There's a good intro to working with a term called The Linux Cookbook. On my distro (Libranet/Debian) it's also available in the terminal by typing info.
edit:ps, in kde the terminal is called Konsole.

ROFL, this is why we use windows, we are too lazy to learn how to use real computers. Go OS X, Linux for the masses. :D
