I think you paid too much. The phone doesn't cost that much.

I am not sure about that. Furthermore, I seldom see unlocking services available for Sharp phones

from my expiriance with 3G phones, i dont see any uses for it, the wap browser makes internet surfing a waste, the email client is not very good, and theres little applications for 3g phones which dont have a smartphone O/S,
when theres a decent symbian or Windows mobile UMTS phone, i'll rethink it, but for now, i just want to get rid of the z1010, poor battery, slow menu access, and little applications,
btw, the sharp 902 you wanted, it sells here in spain, vodafone exclusive, i wouldnt buy it, even if you can unlock the simlocks, the software itself is limited so you have to use vodafone to load games, download ringtones, communicate with other phones, messenging is limited, bluetooth is limited, and other aspects aswell, and since its a phone which is exclusive to vodaphone, its quite hard to find a non vodaphone firmware without those limitations,
it might be pretty, but it will poison your wallet, leave it alone untill theres a non vodafone version (like the V800 and the Z800)

Actually talking about 3G phones. Motorola A1000 is Symbian based. That might be one that has more applications for you.

You might want to consider the SE K600i when it comes out.

The current state of 3G is banking on video calls , mp3 and movie trailers. 3rd party software ain't that "urgent" at the moment so to speak. There are a couple of capable upcoming 3G phones and currently the Moto A1000 is the best there is. Great sound. Touchscreen. Symbian OS 7.The only downside is that it's using the TransFlash card :(
As for the V902 ... the unbranded version, SX813, is a better bet and can be unlock easily.
