Microsoft Singapore Announces Localised Media Guide for Windows Media
Player 7
New Media Guide Showcases Audio and Video from Ten Top Singaporean Content
Companies

Singapore, 24 August 2000: Microsoft Singapore today announced the nine
leading local content partners it is working with to develop a
Singapore-specific Media Guide. The Media Guide, which is a tool found on
the recently launched Windows Media Player 7, allows users to search,
download and play audio and video content from the Web. This announcement
means that strong local content will now be within easy accessibility from
the player itself through the new Singapore Media Guide:

1. AlternateTV
2. Audioload
3. Hotspot
4. Live-e
5. Mediacorp Interactive (TCS/RCS/Woof)
6. Singapore One
7. Sony
8. Soundbuzz
9. Vivamusic

The new Singapore Media Guide within Windows Media Player 7 is one of the
13 localised guides offered by Microsoft. It represents a comprehensive
effort by the company to present an integrated and localised information
guide to digital media fans worldwide.

"We are very committed to bringing the best quality local content to
Singapore digital media fans," said Raj Sambwani, Manager, Consumer Group,
Microsoft Singapore. "The Media Guide is a feature of Windows Media Player
7, which is available for download today as a beta at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia/. When the player is opened, the
Media Guide is presented as a starting screen with featured content in four
content categories."

With the addition of the localised Media Guides, users may now choose any
of the 13 localised guides as their default Media Guide. Windows Media
Player 7 is designed to make it easy for mainstream computer users to
experience digital media and offers significant enhancements in four key
areas:

1. Best audio and video experience. The Windows Media Player 7 beta
includes SRS WOW audio enhancement technology, which creates a panoramic
3-D sound image and offers deep, rich bass on PC speaker systems of all
types. This beta release also offers breakthrough audio and video quality,
including playback of 60 frames per second (FPS) full-motion video.
2. All-in-one functionality. A new radio tuner and integration with the a
new localised Media Guide makes it easy for users to find and enjoy movies,
music, news, Internet radio and more. Windows Media Player 7 brings
multiple functions into a single application and easy-to-use interface.
3. Ease-of-use features. Windows Media Player 7 offers one-click transfer
of music to more popular portable music players and storage devices than
any other media player.
4. More personality. New skins and visualisations add excitement,
interaction and a truly personal experience to Windows Media Player 7

Microsoft's Global Platform
"Digital media is a worldwide phenomenon, and we are committed to making
the best audio and video online accessible to digital media fans around the
world," said Dave Fester, General Manager of Marketing, Digital Media
Division Microsoft. "With 13 localised Media Guides, Windows Media Player 7
offers the best digital media experience and the most relevant local
content."

Windows Media Player is the fastest growing player for digital audio and
video content in a variety of formats, including the industry-leading
Windows Media Format, which offers CD-quality audio in half the file size
of MP3. Windows Media Player 7 represents a dramatic advance in ease of use
for mainstream computer users, with all-in-one access to local files and
online media, integrated jukebox and player capabilities, audio
enhancements and customisable "skins" and visualisations to personalise the
digital media experience.

Thumbs down

Need to confirmed if it's truly as good as it sounds cos' very afraid of screwing up my system setting. Currently using the Win98SE with MediaPlayer 6.4 & quite satisfied with this player, so I'm ears to your comment. Thanks.
