Default Samsung LA40M81BD 40 inch IDTV with H.264 decoder Review

Samsung 40" IDTV LA40M81BD LCD TV is the first LCD TV with embedded Digital (DVB-T) tuner that can decode H.264 broadcasts transmitted off the air. LA40M81BD IDTV removes the hurdle by integrating a DVB-T tuner and H.264 within the M8 LCD TV. Thus you do not have to mess around with set top boxes and remote controls. See how it performs in the review.

As you are probably aware, HD broadcasts are becoming popular. With the introduction of HD channels from local broadcasters, LCD TV sets are becoming the centre of attraction. While much effort has been put into the pushing of HDTV, most of the HDTV sets today are just HD Ready. That is, you would still need to buy a decoder box, be it a DVB-T receiver for the OTA transmissions or you would pay a S$300 for a Starhub decoder box to receive the subscription channels.

Samsun's LA40M81BD IDTV removes the hurdle by integrating the DVB-T tuner and H.264 within the M8 LCD TV. Thus you do not have to mess around with set top boxes and remote controls.
With this TV set, you can now tune into Singapore's Mediacorp HD5 channel which is simulcast from Channel 5. There are also some movies and dramas being screened in native HD 1080i at certain nights of the week.
