Ok here I go again (sorry it is a lot to read but please be patient and post your opinion)

My config :
ECS K7SA no lan rev. 3 bios originaly shipped with MB
(this is what is displayed on POST>top of the screen: K7S5A relase 08/27/2001 S
at bottom of the screen> 62-0827-001437-00101111-040201-Sis735-K7S5A , I hope you can identify a BIOS version from this numbers
temp of MB 31 deg. Celsius after 24 hrs. benchmarking
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1,2 GHz "C'>266MHz FSB not OC (133MHz/133MHz in bios) stepping 2/ rev 4
temp. of CPU 43 deg. Celsius after 24 hrs. benchmarking
300 watt Power Supply (generic but after reading the posts I think that it is no matter what PS you use)
2 x 256 MB DDR Kingston KVR266X64C25 (settings in bios Fast/2,5/6/3)
GeForce 2GTS pro 64 MB DDR not OC (AGP size in Bios 256 MB, driver Nvidia detonator ver. 2240)
SIS AGP driver installed right after first full boot of the OS (before nvidia drivers and everything else the manual says it's very important)
Sound Blaster Live! 1024 (fifth pci slot ) - no sound problems , creative live ware and driver newest verion
30 GB HDD IBM 307030 7200rpm (master) DMA enabled
4,3 GB HDD Seagate (slave) DMA enabled
CD-Rom LG 32x (second IDE channel) DMA enabled
generic floppy drive
Windows 98 SE pan europen verion clean install (swap file manualy set to 250 MB cause it is needed by some programs Direct X 8,1 version ugraded from version 8.0
(sound, modem, serial ports, game port, parallel port, usb ports all diasbled in bios) Power Managment page in Bios left intact with deafault values.
some scores from benchmarks: 3Dmark2001 800x600 32 bit, 32 bit textures no AA, double frame bufer : 4800-4845 marks, SISoft Sandra MB rating: 1589, cpu benchmark: 3263 MIPS/1615 MFLOPS multimedia benchmark: 6565 INTEGRER/7993 FLOAT POINT ,memory benchmark: 612 MB/s INTALU 754 MB/s FLOATFPU
no memtest86 erorrs (including reapeted test 5)
completed Prime Torture Test five times

I have more precise description of my problem. The situation looks like this. Everything works perfect, every test (inc. memtest.86) or benchmark can be completed without problem (even Prime Torture Test), the system is very stable (not a single crash during test and extensive gaming NHL 2002 rulez!!) and fast but when I turn off the computer and turn off power supply filter (this not an UPS but a device beetwen wall power outlet and the computer I do not know its english name :( it has five power outlets and some power filters)then after 10 seconds the BIOS is cleared and the system becomes unstable (I can boot but when I try to restore original (my settings) ( strange fact is that on the CPU page in BIOS FSB cannot be changed at it is written that it is reserved???) in Bios the CPU crashes (there is no signal for monitor) and Bios needs to be cleared using the jumper, after that CPU works normaly, I have no hot boot problems at all. BUT THE FUNNY PART IS NOW WHEN I DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER SUPPLY FILTER AND TURN OFF THE CPU THE BIOS IS NOT CLEARED EVEN AFTER 10 HOURS, BUT OTHER PROBLEM OCCURS, when I turn on the CPU it boots normaly but I can notice strange fact: memory test takes a lot more time (option in the bios was not chaged I check this and quick boot was and is disabled) but there is no other signs of BIOS being cleared and then windows 98 SE (pan european version) crashes displaying error: Windows Protection Fault when executing file>CONFIGMG (what does it thet dll do??) ,after reboot CPU works perfectly. I think this problem has to do whith this ----ing battery (sorry but I am nervous ).
I would be gratefull for your thoughts and opinions especialy from those people with similar sympthoms (problems) and configuration. I have been reading the forum since 7 days but i cannot find a problem similar to mine. Most of the computers cannot boot at all, but mine can.

Last but not least I have an idea ( it is rather theroethical one) which if can be implemented by ECS ( I doubt it cause this company sucks) or tested by OCWorbench experts in OC BIOS ( I have faith in you guys) can solve cold boot problem. Here it is: every other bios has an option called SAVE EPROM DEFAULTS it allows you to save your settings and make them default so if this bios would have this options, users who once boot will have the cold boot problem resolved ( I supose) cause even if the battery was cleared the bios will be set to default values which were set by the user. IMH (in theory )this could work, I am not an expert so if this BIOS cannot be modifed in this way I am sorry for talking bullshit.

I sometimes loose my CMOS settings, usually if machine has just crashed so I sure would like SAVE EPROM DEFAULTS option, is "every other BIOS" you mention ECS or some other systems ??

I've had to restore CMOS 4 times over 3 months, but I need a simpler procedure for others to use when I'm away - or even perhaps a machine which just works !

Thanks for reading

I mean every other produced by other companies BIOS Award for example has this option , so it is rather possible do implement this option with AMI bios
