I bought 2 more modules of Corsair Twin1024-3200XLPT Version 1.2 Ram
And put them in my S1689 for a total of 4 Dimm modules and it works.

Chaintech S1689 with 4 Ram Modules
Chaintech doesn't recommend running 400 MHz rams in various configurations

But I tried it anyway and it worked.
the computer is only getting 333 MHz on the FSB, but timings of 2-2-2-5 are still holding.
I didn't expect it to work at all or if it did only in single channel mode.
Searches on the internet only came up with it couldn't work, mostly by people who must have never tried.
So am i better off running only running 2X512 @ 400 MHz or would 2GB VIA 4X512 at 333 MHz FSB be better?

Good article..
But I don't completely agree.
I did see some performance gain with multitasking while producing the web pages for this topic. I had Paint Shop pro V 7.0, FrontPage 2003, maybe 5 web browsers open While also ftping to site and downloading pictures from camera with very little if any lag as I bounced from one program to another.

Even though they say Battlefield 2 shows little to no benefit I think it is benefiting from the extra ram I have TuneUp Utilities - Memory Optimizer running during the multiplayer game before and after I installed the extra ram and it showed memory indicator was in yellow during the game now it stays in green. the game is more playable with 50 plus people in a server when before i had to avoid servers with more than 32 players. it took a long much longer time to load and unload the Battlefield 2 as well with 1 GB of ram, now it takes less and 1/4th the time and my system is ready to go after it goes back to the desktop with out the long delay after unloading the game, a point I don't think they considered.
Personally I think I am getting a worth while benefit... especially since I bought the ram for about half the price on eBay.
Hindsight I should have paid 50 dollars more for the Corsair TWIN2048-3200C2.... Or would 2-2-2-5 @ 333 MHz FSB be better than 2-3-3-6 @ 400 MHz?
