Next Monday, Intel will officially release its new chipset - Intel 925XE and FSB1066 CPUs. There will be a new CPU model and another one to be expected in Jan 2005.
3.46GHz P4 Extreme Edition:

Must new CPU be paired with new mainboard and new chipsets. That is usually the case. If you were a 915P or 925X mainboard user, chances of it working is quite slim. Of course if you have a board that can run at 266MHz FSB, chances are you can run the new CPU without any problems (through overclocking).
The interesting fact is that the older chipsets like 848P, 865PE that powers the LGA775 socket type boards will have no issues with this CPU. How would this affect sales of the new chipset remains to be seen.
