I was quite happy to get hold of a new Thorton 2400+( a Barton with raised multiplier, lowered fsb and half the L2 caché - tailored for old mb:s) It runs perfectly fine at 2100MHz @ 1.65 V-core and 47 degrees Celsius. It costed me only 80$ and Cheepobios 0327 to get a much faster system The latest Sandra reports it correctly as a Thorton and shows that it benches like a real Barton 2800+ in all cpu-benches !!! PR is 3002. Not bad on an ageing K7S5A I´ve used since my Morgan 1GHz was new

1700+ DLT3C (1.5v stock) @ 1.75v (on air: 43C max) for 2.2G (15x147). The vcore & multi are 'wire-tricked' via the socket mod.

Prime95, CPUBurn, SuperPi, Memtest86, etc are utilites which stress the CPU/system by running 100% load for lengthy periods. They're good indicators of system stability, and can show whether your system is overclocked too far, the CPU volts are a little low, your memory timings are a little too fast, or temperatures are too high.
BenchmarkHQ has a lot of these types of utilities for download.
