neophyte5000, thats what i've been trying to figure out and yes i love cheepman's 1129 and don''t want to part with it
davidgl, it may be old but the 327 i see is at the top of the list for non-pro k7s5a bioses..
1129 was out Nov 29/02, the 327 is dated Aug. 20/03 (dont see logic in # assignment there, mebe it is a patch of older ecs bios?) AND the 327 does have a release note that it supports 160gig drives.
which bring me to .. if u look at top of pg 8 of this thread you'll see from the first two msg's that Squirrel said he was using the 327 in response to a question on which bios to use for 200gig.. and that brought me back to my quest for the right one (as u likely read also on Pg 8 Tim B pointed out I'd missed a reply right from the horses mouth on this subject)
Or maybe I didn't miss it then, and it just my memory problems that had me wondering all over again, ESPescially now that I've got a 200gig on order. (store.name.ignored had seagate 200 on sale on long weekend with a nice rebate )
Thank You all for the info, help and patience - with a special thanks again to cheepoman for all his work and research!

Well, I must be blind deaf and dumb, but I'm dog-goned if I can find an 811 in the non-pro list.. but whatever, as long as cheepo's 1129 works with the new 200gig, I shall PERSIST
as for trying advice.. what.. hotswapping? I did a search on that - everyone and their brother is looking for eproms to flash to replace bad chips ehh.. no thank you
and no, actually why bother to visit if i don't take advice? geez, I dunno.. guess I'm stubborn - Either that or somehow I got into another forum instead of the old K7S5A/ECS ??

Good question! err, not on that list at the top of the page apparently, but still on the server, so with a bit of manipulation of the links we get the two below which work... :S
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/ecs/...os/Chb0811.zip
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/ecs/...s/Chb0811f.zip
The key to bios revision is date order for those that havent figured it out, 0811, meaning 11 August, 0327, meaning 27th March etc.. the year is missing however which makes it a little misleading

Did Cheepoman a CheepoBIOS for K7S5A Pro model BIOS 030811? Couldn't find any info about it.
I'm thinking about replacing my old Thunderbird on Pro board with a Thorton XP, but only newest BIOS came with Thorton support.

Yes I was wondering if there is such a Cheppo BIOSvailable as the 0811 one, but this time for the Pro (PCB 5.x) version of the board, since it is the one I am using now...
Any insight on that matter as such ???
and I believe that a plain K7S5A BIOS (i.e. PCBs 1.x and 3.x) will NOT work for a K7S5A Pro board, right ???

You are correct, Mindwarper. The plain K7S5A BIOS will definitely not work on the Pro board; there is a slightly different set of support chips on the Pro version that the plain one isn't set up for.
I'd like to find a Cheepoman BIOS based on the E030811S version myself. I've been very happy with CHB0120F so far, but improvement is always welcome.
