My machine spec and Powerful static
I did not use antistatic wrist strap when I was working on my computer, that is "no no rule number 1".
That happened in winter with central heating on and carpeted floor, there is lots of static from this enviroment. I forgot to tab my finger on something to release the static before touching the computer case.
Somehow the static found its way to the motherboard and fried the motherboard.
Now the spec of my machine running on Windpws XP SP3:
ASRock 939 dual SATA2
Nvidia 8600GT PCIe
Nvidia 6800GT AGP
2 gb OCZ DDR500 PC4000
ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI
Rocketfish 700 watt power supply
AMD Athlon 60FX running at 3 ghz and 230 FSB
Maxtor IDE hardrive for file storage
2 80gb Raptors on Raid 0 as boot drive
triple monitor setup
I am looking for some pointers on overclocking to make full use of the DDR500, and change the multiplier to run the CPU at 3200.
I read the FAQ in this FORUM and found out that I can set the multiplier in the BIOs and it won't change anything. This is certainly true and a big disappointment. With the multiplier set at 14, the FX60 have no problem reaching 3200 with the Gigabyte motherboard.
Thanks for the replies.

Yeh I used to love winter, long carpet, and dry air. You could always see the shock or mini-lightning strike when you did it to someone.
Killed my beloved Tyan 9800pro not with shock but when I grabbed it I felt a good buzz go through my fingertips so must have crossed something with stored energy. Actually still works kind of but doesn't look pretty;)

Live in the USA so it is rather large. Not too much static where I live now but I used to live in the north (Missouri) where the winters were dry, plus the fact the heat is on and taking humidity out of the air. Not as much snow anymore though. Usually wet winters now also. Yeh there is no global warming.
Whats funny is, if you watch the discovery channel or history channel is the last time we went through a global warming period it brought on a severe cold period called the little ice age. Once so much fresh water enters the oceans then the oceans can not convect like they used to. The fresh water sits atop the salt water. This stops them from giving off heat. Good ole mother nature is great at healing herself just like the human body is.
It was a pretty good zap you could discharge though, sometimes from an inch or 2+ cm away from the other person but on average 1/2 inch or 1cm.
Harmless but if surprise someone it is funny.

Introduction
Hi, Iam new here and know only enough about computers to get into trouble. I hope to get help with a safe/ stable overclock of a system. This seems to be a great place for information. I hope to be able to make a few of you laugh at my inexperience. I have built several computers and fixed some others for people but I am not a pro by any stretch of the imagination.
